The behavior in QlikView regarding sorting of alphanumeric fields differs from for example Excel. Even explicitly loading a field as a string - using Text() - won't have any effect on the sorting, but using Text() in for example a list box will.
The reason behind this behavior is performance. Full ASCII sorting on long mixed strings is very resource heavy, and is therefore avoided in the document load. The option to use ASCII sorting is available on the object level if the resource usage is acceptable.
If the Text() variable is used on an object, QlikView will sort for example "13ZZ0" before "1ZZZ0" since the ASCII value of 3 comes before Z. If the text() variabel is not set, 1ZZZ0 will be sorted first since Qlikview will interpret it numerically as "1", and 13ZZ0 as "13".
